I just came back from the kerrraziest ride I ever did this whole holiday. Firstly, I decided to try Kent Ridge today, apparently the hardest trail in SG. Had to cycle all the way to frikin' west coast to get there, not to mention the very vertical road we had to cycle up, only one managed to cycle up that slope. There's two trails actually, the Super D and the XC track. So first we tried the Super D. I looked at the start of the trail and I was like shit what did I just get myself into. The start was already some 70 degree slope. Nevertheless, I managed to bash through and survived various steep switchbacks, poppy roots and narrow declines. The scary thing about the trail is that it's a narrow track with a steep slope coupled with dead trees by your side. You know what that means, peewwwwshh if you fall, good luck. After much intense downhilling (though super fun really, it feels exactly like a roller coaster at a lower speed of course), we exited out of that 2km trail? It was frikin' short like 10 minutes or something, it was just intense. Feeling unsatisfied, we all crawled back up the disgusting hill and headed down to the XC track -THIS was a killer. It's apparently the sickest, most hardcore trail in SG and I was like wtflood! The track was extremely narrow and the roots were dead hard and slippery. That's not even the hard part. There was this dead steep slope with a tree right smack in the middle, I had to hike and cycle down halfway by the other route which really wasn't any better 'cause it had a sharp turn and rocks, huge rocks with moss on them, ultimatum slippery man, lost my footing a couple of times. Then there was another vertical slope which I ended up tree hugging 'cause I almost crashed and this was the ultimate-> three frikin' drop-offs, HUGE drop offs, lying on a 80 degree bed of rocks and mud. That was crazy, only two cycled down that (crazy), one guy crashed and the remaining three including me passed the bikes down, egyptian style. I don't even think you can hike with your legs straight, it's the kind where you have to sink low to the ground to maintain gravity. Nuts I tell you. Headed out to depot road to eat (yea where the flood is that right, frikin' far man, pass harbour front and God-knows-where) and then cycled back to jurong to the bike shop to get my brakes fixed. Hoooly. Well I managed to cycle on the road this time or rather they didn't wanna do pavements so anyway it wasn't so texing 'cause being the second last = you don't really have to watch out for anything, you just follow and maintain speed. It started to pour halfway, chilling to ride in the rain just that the road water splashes all over your face and body. Anyway, tomorrow I'm gonna do a slow ride with a fellow lady (finally can take it slow tmr) and that's probably gonna be my last weekday ride :/ before school starts, oh the horrrrrror.
